MONEY from The Department of Transport is helping Otley Action for Older People tackle loneliness and isolation.
The not for profit organisation received the grant of £24,000 from the Community Transport Association (CTA) at the end of 2022.
The Department for Transport (DfT) money was distributed to help tackle isolation through access to transport.
The charity had identified that there was a need for a men’s support group aimed at the over 60’s population, with a focus on trips and outings to support mental health.
A spokesperson for Otley Action for Older People said: “To date the men’s group have enjoyed more than 20 trips to various places including the Settle - Carlisle Railway, Filey, the Railway Museum at York and Cannon Hall Farm.
“Many firm friendships have been formed over the last few months. The group welcomes new members aged 60 plus living in LS21.
“Please call Otley Action on 01943 463965 for more information.”
