In a change from the published programme the French four-way romcom Paris 13th District is Ilkley Film Society's next screening on Sunday 16th April (8pm, Ilkley Playhouse).
The previously advertised film Between Two Worlds cannot be shown as the only screening copy in the UK is faulty. The Society hopes to include it in next season's programme as a new copy is expected to be available.
Paris 13th District, shot in ravishing black & white, is concerned with the love lives of four young people of different ethnicities, and one plot strand involves a very unfortunate case of mistaken identity. Director Jacques Audiard is perhaps best known for The Beat My Heart Skipped, though four of his films have featured in the Society's past programmes.
Admirers of Celine Sciamma's film Portrait Of A Lady On Fire should note that Sciamma wrote the script for Audiard's film, and actress Noemie Merchant has lead roles in both films. The musical score, by electronic composer Rone, won the Soundtrack Award at the Cannes Film Festival.
As always, guests are welcome (tickets £4) but should phone Dave Howell on 01943 430097 to guarantee admission. Please note that the film has an 18 certificate and so guests below that age cannot be admitted.
