A LORRY driver who crashed at Blubberhouses on Tuesday, April 18, was banned from the road just over 24 hours later.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: "The driver, Jacek Borowski, 51, from Poland, lost control of his HGV heading down the hill and blocked the road completely."
The collision occurred at just before 10am and the road was closed in both directions for recovery to take place. Initial reports were that the vehicle had overturned.
The spokesman added: "The road was closed for most of the day, causing significant disruption. No one else was involved or injured.
"Officers breathalysed the driver who blew 92 micrograms of alcohol in 100 milligrams of breath – almost three times the legal limit of 35 microgrammes."
Borowski was remanded into custody and put before York Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, April 19 where he pleaded guilty to drink-driving and was disqualified from driving for 23 months.
