A GROUP of students turned £5 into business opportunities as part of a school’s new entrepreneur club.
Westgate Primary School, in Otley, teamed up with Virgin Bank for the new after school club about business and managing finances.
The young entrepreneurs were handed £5 to research ideas and create their own mini company.
Pupils created five business ideas - including personalised notebooks, The Bookateers; handmade bracelets, The Herberts; handmade chocolates, Planet Cocoa; L&R Sweet Company, and Magical Keyrings, handmade personalised keyrings.
The children spent several weeks making their products, promoting and taking orders.
After selling all their stock to peers and parents, the children used a spreadsheet to work out their profits.
The club’s £200 profit will be used towards a new outdoor clock for the playground and playtime equipment.
