THE winners of the hotly anticipated Otley Pub Club’s Yorkshire Day Pub Photo Competition have been announced at an exhibition at the town’s Black Horse Hotel.
The six day exhibition in the hotel stables was opened by Otley Town Mayor Cllr Ray Smith and Otley’s Bellman Terry Ford on Yorkshire Day, August 1 and runs until August 6. The competition has been organised with the support of Otley Camera Club.
The three winners of the gold, silver and bronze awards are Brian Keighley for his photo in The Junction, Nigel Halton with his photo in The Old Cock and Holly Pennington with her photo in The Rose & Crown. They were presented with their prizes of £100, £50 and £25 respectively.
The winners were picked by the judging panel made up of the Town Mayor and representatives from the pub club and camera club.
The photos were judged not necessarily on the quality of the photograph, but on what the photo meant to the person submitting it. The exhibition is open to all and people are welcome to go along during the week to come and see it.
All the entries have been printed and put up on display boards, along with over 100 other prints depicting life in and around Otley’s pubs. There is also a video slideshow on the big screen with some 300+ photos featuring pubs past - with thanks to Otley Museum - and present.
Bob Brook, Project Coordinator of Otley Pub Club and Stephen Tonkin, Secretary of Otley Camera Club thanked all who entered saying: “We hope people will come and raise a glass to Otley’s famous pubs.”
