Burley and Woodhead Primary School achieves top mental health award

The school has been awarded Platinum and Beacon School status under the Bradford Healthy Minds Charter Mark, in recognition of exemplary practice in mental health support.

The Healthy Minds Charter Mark recognizes schools for their dedication to fostering the emotional health and well-being of pupils, parents and staff. Started three years ago, the initiative is a collaborative effort between Bradford Council and the Bradford District Health and Care Partnership.

Schools within the district can be awarded this prestigious mark, which comes in three tiers: silver, gold, and platinum, based on their effectiveness in supporting the mental health of children, young people, parents, and staff. The new Beacon status awards recognises those schools who can demonstrate exceptional support and a continual motivation to improve mental health support systems.

Head teacher, Nina Dobson, said: “Here at Burley and Woodhead, we strive for excellence in mental health care and are very proud to receive this award in recognition of our work. The school is committed to promoting a culture where emotional well-being is prioritised and integrated into everyday school life."

Learning Mentor, Sally Hughes, said "This award reflects the contribution of our whole community. Governors, staff, pupils and carers, all play their part in contributing to the creation of a supportive environment where we can all thrive. The children are particularly proud of their school, and this shone through during the Charter Mark visit."
