MEMBERS of the Washburn Heritage Centre at Fewston have been enjoying a varied programme of events on the theme 'Inspired by our Landscape'.

A series of walks in conjunction with the Otley Walking Festival proved very popular; as did a gentle stroll around the Harewood estate with picnic lunch.

Amateur sketchers enhanced their work in a sketching workshop and a midsummer supper provided an evening of laughter and humour based on notable events from bygone centuries.

Many more delights are promised during the rest of the programme, which will run until the end of September.

Highlights include a visit to Grade 2 listed Weston Hall and the formal gardens of Littlethorpe Manor.

Roger Chapman, explorer, will make a welcome return to the centre to speak about his expedition to Greenland, and Patrick Eyres, writer and lecturer, will lead on an exploration of Turner in Yorkshire.

Many more walks, talks, visits, workshops and the Washburn suppers will be on offer throughout the summer.

And the tearoom will be open during the summer months on Saturdays and Sundays 11am to 4pm.
