A Guiseley boy is in the running to become the next Leeds Children's Mayor.

Micah Lawrence, 10, who is a pupil going into Year 6 at St Oswald's Primary in Guiseley, is in the final 12 candidates for children's mayor and is looking to get as many votes as possible.

Proud dad Ben Lawrence said: “His manifesto is all about child mental health and providing more support and safe spaces for young people across Leeds.”

Voting for your favourite Leeds Children’s Mayor candidates is now open.

On Leeds City Council’s website, it is recommended that people should:

• Set aside some time to read the entries from the 12 finalists and think about which two are your favourites

• Choose your top two candidates and vote for them online.

Each vote will be equally weighted.

Voting closes at 5pm on Monday, September 23, 2024.

The Lord Mayor of Leeds will announce who has been elected as the next Leeds Children’s Mayor at a civic reception event on Thursday, October 3, 2024.
