THE Otley Wildlife Festival is back this October with a weekend full of exciting events at Otley Courthouse, starting on Friday, October 25th.
Whether you're a wildlife enthusiast or just curious to learn more, the festival has something for everyone, celebrating the beauty and importance of the natural world.
A spokesperson for Otley Courthouse said: "The festival kicks off on Friday with a talk from Kate Bradbury, the award-winning author, journalist, and TV presenter from Gardeners’ World and Springwatch. Kate will share her expertise on wildlife gardening, offering practical tips on how to create habitats for animals in your own garden. Drawing on her experience transforming her Brighton garden into a haven for frogs, hedgehogs, and bees, Kate’s talk will encourage anyone wanting to make their outdoor spaces more wildlife-friendly.
"On Saturday, October 26th, the Courthouse is hosting a Wildlife Art Exhibition, featuring stunning works by local artists. From oil paintings to watercolours, textiles, and photography, the exhibition highlights the talent of Otley's creative community, all through the lens of nature. Admission is free, so come along and enjoy this beautiful showcase of nature-inspired art while supporting the vast local talent.
"Later that evening, we’re excited to welcome back George McGavin - TV presenter, explorer, and entomologist. George will share stories from his adventures in rainforests around the world and talk about the importance of protecting local woodlands and forests. With his engaging mix of humour and knowledge, he makes complex conservation topics easy to understand and enjoyable for everyone.
"Wrapping up the festival’s events at the Courthouse, on Thursday, October 31st, our talented Co-Centre Director, Laura, will perform a lunchtime recital exploring natural themes with a variety of flutes, from piccolo to bass.
"There’s also plenty more happening across Otley throughout the weekend, so be sure to check the Wildlife Friendly Otley website for more details on workshops, talks, and other activities. It’s a celebration of nature you won’t want to miss!
