THE Otley Methodist Church and Otley Common need volunteers to help prepare the building for the upcoming Prince Henry’s Awards Ceremony.

Prince Henry’s Sixth Form Awards Ceremony will be returning to Otley this year, having recently been held in the Queen’s Hotel in Leeds. The event will take place in the main chapel at Otley Methodist Church in December. Being in Otley will make it much more affordable for the school and accessible for local families.

The event was due to be hosted by Otley Common, but with the group still raising funds to takeover the building in early 2025, the Otley Methodist Church have kindly stepped in to host the event.

The only events that have been hosted in the chapel this year have been the Otley Common Pop-up Open days, with church services now usually taking place in the Wesley Hall.

The church and the Common teams are now keen to freshen up the space before the PHGS event, which will be the largest gathering in the building since Amanda Owen, The Yorkshire Shepherdess, spoke there in 2017.

As well as a good clean, the room needs some minor decorating. There will be two volunteer days on November 2nd and 9th, both starting at 10am and finishing at 2pm – if you can’t make the full four hours, don’t worry, any time you can donate is greatly appreciated. You can just turn up on the day to volunteer, but if you require more information, please email hello@otleycommon.org

The Otley Common group is still raising funds to take over the building early in 2025. So far, the share offer has raised over £165k from generous local investors, but there’s a long way to go to reach the groups optimal target of £520k before the deadline on December 31st.
