REMEMBRANCE services are being held across Wharfedale and Aireborough on Sunday, November 10, to commemorate those who lost their lives or were injured in conflicts around the world.

In Addingham there will be a church service at St Peter's Church at 10.45am. A parade will depart from the church at 11.45am to walk to the war memorial where there will be a service at noon, with wreath laying. This will conclude at 12.15pm.

In Bramhope a service of Remembrance takes place at St Giles Church at 9.30am on Sunday. Participants in the parade will gather at the Village Hall from 10.30am and the parade will commence at 10.45am. The Act of Remembrance at the Memorial Garden will commence at 11am. A Remembrance service will take place in the Methodist Church afterwards, commencing at approximately 11.30am. There will also be a short Remembrance Service on Monday at 11am at the Memorial Garden, led by Reverend Roger Smith, of Bramhope Methodist Church.

On Sunday in Burley-in-Wharfedale there will be a service at 9.45am at St Mary’s Church, followed at 11am by an Act of Remembrance and laying of wreaths at the Cenotaph.

Ilkley Town Council has announced the annual Remembrance parade and service will be held on Sunday, November 10. The service will commence at 3pm at the Memorial Gardens, and will be led by the Rev David Callander. All are welcome at the Memorial Gardens and there will be an opportunity to lay your wreath at the end if you wish.

The service will be preceded by the traditional parade starting from Whitton Croft Road. This will include dignitaries, members of the armed forces and uniformed and civic organisations. Participants in the parade will assemble from 2.20pm, and at 2.40pm will progress in front of the Town Hall, along the Grove and into the Memorial Gardens to assemble in time for the 3pm start. A rolling road closure will be in place.

All are welcome to support the parade and to attend the event in the Memorial Gardens. A collection will be held for the Royal British Legion.

In Guiseley the Royal British Legion Remembrance Parade will take place on Sunday, November 10. There will be a service at 10am at St Oswald's Church, Guiseley, with wreath laying and the last post at Towngate Memorial Garden at 11am.

To take part in the parade meet at the Guide Hut, the Green, Guiseley at 9.15am. There will be refreshments after the parade in the guide hut. The 2168 Air Cadets band will lead the parade and the Last post will be played by Guiseley Brass Band.

Also in Guiseley on Monday November 11 at 11am there will be a school's remembrance with a two minute silence at Towngate Memorial Garden. The Last Post will be played by Lily Adams, a student from Guiseley School.

In Horsforth on Sunday, November 10 the Royal British Legion and Horsforth Town Council invite the public to participate in the parade, meeting at 10am at the junction of Broadgate Lane and Stanhope Drive and the remembrance service at Horsforth Cenotaph at 10.45am, followed by refreshments at The Willows, next door to the cenotaph.

In Menston a Service of Remembrance will take place at Kirklands Community Centre on Sunday. Assemble for a service lead by local ministers at 10.30am, which will commence at 10.45am.

In Otley on Sunday, November 10 there will be a parade at 2pm from Manchester Square (Otley Maypole) with a church service at 2.30pm at Otley Parish Church, with a service in the Remembrance Garden 3.30pm approx. On Monday, November 11 a short remembrance service takes place in the remembrance garden starting at 10.50am approx.

At St Peter’s Church in Town St, Rawdon, as well as an act of remembrance at the morning service, there will be a community remembrance parade, leaving the cenotaph at 2.30pm. This is followed by a short service and act of remembrance at Rawdon Littlemoor.

First Bus will display poppies and offer free travel to those eligible on Remembrance Sunday and Day. Anyone in the Armed Forces community will be able to travel on its buses for free on November 10 and 11. This includes serving troops, veterans, and cadets.

A spokesperson for First said: "Simply show the driver your Armed Forces ID, Veteran’s Badge, or wear your medals or uniform."

They added: "We hope that the free travel helps them attend commemorative events to remember the service and sacrifice of their comrades."
