ILKLEY Town Council has thanked everyone who came along to a lantern making workshop on Saturday, November 2 at the Clarke Foley Centre, and especially Cecil Green Arts for facilitating the event.
A spokesperson for the town council said: "It was a fun and messy day and all the lanterns look fantastic. We can’t wait to see them again in the lantern parade which is being held as part of the Christmas Lights switch on event on Saturday 23rd November.
"Local schools are also hosting workshops over the next few weeks to make more lanterns for the parade.
"If you missed the workshop you can still get involved. Lantern making kits are available on the internet to make at home and families are invited to take part in the parade with or without a lantern. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
"The parade, which will be led by Father Christmas and will include some exciting large lanterns and a brass band, will assemble at the Memorial Gardens from 4.15pm and will parade along the Grove from 4.40pm. A giant puppet will welcome the parade outside Christchurch before Father Christmas switches the lights on at 5pm.
’We hope to see you there.’
