A young farmers club is on a recruitment drive for new members – whether they are from an agricultural back-ground or not.
Anyone aged between ten and 26, and living within a five-mile radius of Yeadon, is being invited to join the Esholt and District YFC – and no farming experience is necessary.
The club, formed in 1977, is holding a new members night on July 20 at Esholt Sport & Leisure Club and is inviting anyone interested in becoming a member to come along.
Kelly Armitage of the Yorkshire Federation of Young Farmers Clubs is heading a team co-ordinating the search for newcomers.
“Despite the name Young Farmers, we are certainly not just a club for farmers or even farmers’ sons and daughters,” she said.
“We are open to members of any background, as long as they are aged between ten and 26 and are prepared to have a go at anything and have a good time.
“As members we put so much into the YFC move-ment but get a heck of a lot out of it, just see our website yfyfc.org.uk for a taste of what we get up to and come along to the meeting in Esholt on July 20.”
In addition to members, the club is also looking for a few new leaders, maybe past members who can support the members in running the club and helping them to experience all that the Young Farmers movement has to offer.
Anyone who needs more details about the Esholt Club or other local YFC Clubs in their area is asked to contact the county administrative office on 01423 865870.
