Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious car crash near Pool-in-Wharfedale that left four people injured.

The accident happened at about 11.35am on Saturday, July 4, when there was a collision between a silver Honda Jazz and a silver Rover 25 at the Dyneley Arms crossroads.

The Honda had been travelling away from Otley towards Leeds on the A660 Leeds Road while the Rover was heading up the A658 Pool Bank New Road towards Yeadon.

The Honda's driver and passenger, an 89-year-old man and a 91-year-old woman, both from St Albans in Hertfordshire, suffered serious injuries and were taken to Leeds General Infirmary. The woman is currently in a critical condition and the man is described as stable.

The driver and passenger of the Rover, a 54-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman, both from Richmond, North Yorkshire, were also taken to LGI with injuries that were not life-threatening.
