Weston Lane U-9s 2 Wetherby Tigers 0: The early stages of this match were very competitive with Weston Lane having a slight advantage in possession but the visitors were solid in defence.
The Lane midfield was working well with Adam Magarry and Cameron Place trying to get round the visitors flanks but the pressure led to Rhys Carr firing in a superb opening goal.
The Lane defence Lane has proved to be the team's foundation and once again Jack Blackwell gave a fine performance. He was assisted by good debuts from Ian Clark and Marcus Craven. The game was finished when a shot by Aaron Kenworthy looped over the visitors' keeper.
Leeds City Vixens 0 Burley Trojans U-10 Girls 2: Burley Trojans U-10 Girls travelled to Leeds City Vixens with only seven players but were still confident that they could do the double over the Vixens Cubs.
The game followed a similar pattern to last week with Burley dominating most of the play. The midfield trio of Lara Hutchinson, Katie Hudson and Hannah Woods were outstanding. They were quick to the ball and strong in the tackle, and therefore enjoyed a lot of possession.
They used this possession well, frequently outpacing the Cubs with strong runs, followed by good long passes or crosses.
Up front, Bethan Smith always looked dangerous and forced a fine save from the keeper during the first-half.
Hannah Woods then unleashed a thunderous dipping volley from outside the box which looked to be going in but just went over the bar.
The team's confidence to have a go from long range has been one of the plus points in recent weeks.
At the back, Hannah Robinson and Katie Dinsdale were rarely troubled. On one of the few occasions that they were called upon to make a clearance, Hannah Robinson decided to liven things up by firing a pile-driver right into the referee's midriff.
For the second week running, the first -half finished goalless and Burley had to play up the slope and into a strong wind in the second-half. This did not have any effect on the Trojans as they just seemed to get even stronger in the second period.
Katie Hudson showed good skill on the ball to emerge from a crowd of Vixens on a number of occasions. The Leeds' keeper was kept very busy but her long kicks could have posed a threat. However, like a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, Hannah Woods was always there to trap the ball and re-launch the Burley attack.
Lara Hutchinson's strong running down the right wing then paid dividends when she cut inside and fired Burley ahead, beating the keeper at the near post. This was Lara's first goal for a long time, and it really was a just reward for her fine performances recently. Lara nearly had a second goal when her shot from outside the box rattled the woodwork.
Another superb team performance was then rounded off by a classic Bethan Smith goal, beating the keeper with a cool finish. Girl-of-the-Match - Lara Hutchinson.
