A beautiful sunny day on Monday was a bonus for the 22 people who went on the first of Ilkley and District Good Neighbours’ 2014 excursions.
Two Community Transport minibuses, driven by volunteer drivers, drove through the countryside to the Cavendish Pavilion at Bolton Abbey.
The ladies and gentlemen were thrilled to be able to enjoy the scenery, taking in the delights of lambs in the fields and the wildflowers in the meadows.
The afternoon tea provided by the Cavendish Pavilion was excellent and some of the guests were able to take advantage of the gift shop to make a few purchases.
Organiser of the excursion and trustee of Ilkley Good Neighbours, Judy Hutton, said: “The aim of these excursions is to allow older people who live independently the opportunity to get out of their homes and to interact with other people. I should like to express my thanks to the drivers for their care and to our own volunteers Becky Bourdon, Yvonne Kierman and Anita Dunford for their assistance.”
The next excursion will be on Monday, June 30. Anyone who would like to be considered for an invitation is asked to contact Judy Hutton on (01943) 603348 or send an e-mail to info@goodneighbours.ilkley.org.
