Aire-Wharfe League Otley were one of only two teams to secure victory as rain was the big winner on Saturday.

They made short work of Harden, whose relegation from Division One was all but sealed when they were dismissed for 100 by Ricky Halloran (4-37) and John Brough (3-10). The in-form Josh Atkinson (51no) and Stewart Smith (30no) saw Otley home after Richard Wear had grabbed a couple of early wickets.

The six-points Otley earned carried them into fourth place.

The only other team to win before the weather intervened were Thack- ley in Division Two.

Bradley Goodaire smashed an unbeaten 45 off 26 balls. He hit a six and nine fours as.Thackley chased down a Colton score of 124 to win by seven wickets.

Thackley’s attack of Mahir Ali (4-41) and Nasser Jamal (3-35) set up the win.

Majid Khan (28) gave Thackley a solid start before Goodaire and Luke Holroyd clinched victory.

Elsewhere, some superb personal displays could not make up for the frustration of having to settle for a single point – especially for teams who looked as though they were on the way to victory.

Ilkley hit 258-5 in their clash with Rawdon, the side just behind them in the Division Two promotion race, and had the home side at 29-1 when play was called off. Will Spivey (50) and Jonathan Hughes (86) put on 115 for Ilkley’s first wicket and Harry Nielsen hit six fours and five sixes in his 86 not out.

Despite being as good as relegated, Calverley produced their third-best innings of the season, reaching 248-8 against leaders Knaresborough.

Alastair Long (90) and Scott Driscoll (69no) were the main contributors.

Australian Andrew Bourne top-scored with 64 in Tong Park Esholt’s 229-7 at Bolton Villas, who were relieved to hear that fast-improving relegation rivals Bardsey had been thwarted when in with a chance of overhauling Green Lane’s 178 (Phil Atkinson 77).

Guiseley appeared to have Division One leaders Beckwithshaw on the back foot when they restricted them to 175-7.

But they did not find runs any easier to come by and only managed to get to 98-5 thanks to a determined 38 not out from Dave Pennett.

Ben Rhydding and Steeton had their games called off when opponents Follifoot and Bilton seemed to have the upper hand.

Collingham made 282-8 against Pool with former Horsforth batsman Oliver Hardaker making 119 and skipper Toby Jacklin (77).

Ed Brown arrived at the wicket with Burley having lost their first three wickets with just two on the board against Kirkstall Educational, but he led a fine recovery with an impressive innings of 105.

In Division Three Menston, Olicanian and Addingham against Upper Wharfedale, Illingworth and Alwoodley respectively were strugg- ling when the rain came.

The clash between leaders Skipton and third-placed Horsforth swung to and fro before the weather came out on top. Mark McEneaney (3-66) and Andy Robinson (4-50) put Horsforth on top when they reduced Skipton to 89-6.

But Ben Holderness (49no) and Faisal Hussain (20no) put on 67 to get them to 219-8 and Hussain then removed the first two Horsforth batsmen with only two on the board.

Denis Rock and James Carlill each picked up three wickets in New Rover’s 229-7.
