Guiseley manager Mark Bower and assistant player-manager Danny Boshell have been rewarded for transforming the Nethermoor club’s fortunes with new deals.

An unbeaten run of 13 games has propelled the Lions into one of the Skrill North promotion play-off positions and that has prompted the club to secure the management duo until the end of the 2014-15 season.

As Guiseley prepare for a testing trip to fourth-placed Hednesford on Saturday before taking on Harrogate Town at home on Tuesday, their fans will be delighted with the news.

Physio Martin Stringfellow has also signed a similar extension to his deal with the club hoping that securing their management trio will help their planning for next season.

Chief executive Adie Towers said: “We’re delighted to get Mark and Danny signed up for next season.

“After a difficult start to Mark’s time at the club, the pair have helped improve results to the point where we are now in the race for a play-off spot.

“This step will help us plan in areas such as player recruitment and gives the club a boost ahead of an exciting run-in to our season.”

The Lions have had ten wins and three draws in their last 13 matches, catapulting them from 11th to the fifth and final play-off position.

That 33-point tally has almost doubled the 35 points they achieved from the first 24 matches.

Bower took over in September when Steve Kittrick was sacked.

Midfielder Boshell, who rejoined Guiseley from Altrincham in October, has also played a key role.

Bower has been delighted by his team’s progress but he insists: “We have achieved nothing yet. We have got ourselves into a good position and must take advantage.”
