Yeadon’s miserable start to the new JCT600 Bradford League season continued as they suffered their third-successive Division One defeat and bowed out of the Priestley Cup at the first-round stage.
There were some promising signs at Hanging Heaton on Saturday when Oliver Halliday took 5-61 as the home side made 235-8.
At one stage they were 30-3 but former Yeadon player Ben Elvidge (58) and Joe Fraser (66) led the revival.
Yeadon’s fragile batting was ex-posed again as they were dismissed for 122 despite 49 from Tariq Mehboob.
The lack of runs is clearly affecting confidence and that was evident again as they suffered a six-wicket defeat in the cup at Morley on Sunday.
A total of 136 was not enough to trouble the home side and that figure was only boosted by some good late batting from wicketkeeper Jake Wray (39no). Spenser Horsfall (3-28) was Morley’s most successful bowler.
Morley were guided to their target by their young left-hander James McNichol who was 42 not out when victory was achieved.
Yeadon, who are bottom of the table, visit Lightcliffe on Saturday.
