TOP women's football star Sue Smith was all set to play at Guiseley AFC's Nethermoor Park ground on Sunday but fans of the top women's star have now been disappointed.

Sue and her Leeds United team were to have played their top-of-the-table clash with Bristol at the Guiseley ground but now their opponents Bristol Academy have been ordered to play their three times postponed Women's FA Cup tie on Sunday instead.

Leeds were hoping to see the same kind of support that they had enjoyed at Guiseley for last year's Women's FA Cup semi-final against Liverpool at Nethermoor.

Leeds are in tremendous form this season and have their sights set on the title in the Women's Premier League.

They topped the table until last weekend when Arsenal played two games in a catch up situation and took over at the top.

They beat Birmingham City 1-0 and then thrashed Sunderland 9-0. Arsenal now have 27 points, Leeds 25, Charlton 22 and Bristol 21 so Sunday's clash is vital to the aspirations of the Leeds team.

Team spokeswoman Mel Vauvelle said: " We are very disappointed not to be playing at Guiseley this weekend. Unfortunately Bristol have suffered some of the most severe weather conditions and their FA Cup tie has already been postponed three times so they have been ordered to play it this weekend which now rules out our game at Guiseley.

Guiseley Chairman Phil Rogerson said: "We were greatly looking forward to welcoming Leeds United Ladies to Guiseley once again so it is disappointing that they will not now be coming. There was a tremendous atmosphere in the ground the last time they played here and we were looking for some of that atmosphere again to help spur them on in their title quest.

"We have a ladies team of our own and our junior section has girls' teams so we are well aware of the importance of the women's game."
