ADDINGHAM nine year-old Alexander Finlayson (left) has netted his first Under-10 county title.
The Addingham, Primary School pupil who is coached at Ilkley Tennis Club won the LTA Arial 10 and under County Tournament in Nottingham beating an opponent who had already won four county titles.
Alexander's efforts on the court have also bagged him his first contract in sports sponsorship with Tennis Technology Kit (TTK) who will provide him with kit, bags and clothing and he will represent their Warriors team.
The youngster has been coached at Ilkley by Performance Coach Gary Henderson who is unfortunately from Alexander's point of view leaving the club.
Alexander's mother said that her son had benefitted greatly from Henderson's coaching. "He has really brought him on," she said.
Alexander plays tennis every day usually going down to the courts in Stourton Road after school. He has been playing at the Ilkley club for three years where he is part of the Performance Squad.
