Chester 3 Ben Rhydding 2
BEN Rhydding's hopes of avoiding relegation from the North Men's Premier League suffered a body blow when they blew a two-goal lead to lose against the side promoted with them last season.
The victory means Chester are virtually certain to stay up while second-bottom Ben Rhydding could go down with already doomed York.
Much could depend on what happens in the National Conference.
Rhydding began well and had all the play. Connor Dowley scored a super goal to give them the lead.
Brilliant defending at corners from Lewis Wild and some excellent saves from Chris McSherry in goal, kept Rhydding in the game through a dodgy spell.
The first half remained tight and tireless work in midfield from Callum Franks, Rob Ramsden and George Gamble kept Rhydding pushing forward.
Chester came out hard in the second half but it was Rhydding that scored to take a 2-0 lead.
George Gamble got a deft touch on a great ball in from Will Musgrave. Chester were not ready to cave in and hit three goals in the last 15 minutes to snatch victory.
They began with an easy goal from an unmarked player. Reckless tackling from Rhydding gave Chester a corner which they gratefully took and levelled the scores. Two minutes later they netted the winner.
