AFTER a disappointing result last week, Ben Rhydding stepped up and produced a gritty home performance to beat local rivals Leeds 2nds 2-1.
Rhydding scored an amazing goal in the first five minutes to take an early lead.
Dave McCollum found an inch-perfect long ball to Will Musgrave, who delivered a perfectly timed and weighted pass for Max Helme to slide in and deflect into the roof of the net.
They continued to create many chances but were not able to finish them.
Leeds got back into the game in the second half and capitalised on some good pressure, scoring the equaliser with ten minutes on the clock.
McCollum also set the bar for a fine final phase for Rhydding. He not only won the corner that was to be the match winner, but also scored the goal at the final whistle to give Rhydding the win.
This victory moves Rhydding back up to fourth position in the league.
