BEN Rhydding's top two teams were finally back in league action, but they endured different levels of success.
The men's side ran out 2-0 winners at Wimslow thanks to Callum Franks and George Gamble efforts.
In the relentless rain, Rhydding began their campaign with professionalism and ruthlessness.
Keeping the ball patiently for long periods, the visitors looked to be in control from the outset.
After 15 minutes, they were ahead through a fantastic Franks corner.
In what was a fast and furious game, coach, Demy Dowley, was impressed with the great discipline shown by his team in executing their processes.
Marshall Buchanan created some exciting chances for Ben Rhydding and Wilmslow skimmed a few across the face of the goal.
Gamble finally put the game to bed with a well taken strike after a flurry of pressure.
As for the ladies, they went down 2-1 at Bowdon after taking the lead.
Freya Bellamy opened the scoring deep into the second half, only for Bowdon to score two late goals and take the three points.
New coach, Alex Fletcher, was proud to see his side battle hard throughout the game only to be edged out in a dramatic final couple of minutes.
There have been many challenges over the last few months as the club have put in a huge effort to get training up and running for all ages, and many more teams will finally return to competitive play this weekend.
Unfortunately, at the moment, the club is unable to welcome back spectators yet.
