THE Derventio Excel Long Course Meet held at Ponds Forge Sheffield saw a small team of swimmers gain final placings along with two golds, three silver and a bronze medal at this top class meet.
Swimming in the 15/16 years age group it was once again Gina Warrior who struck gold in the 50m and 100m backstroke. Her time of 1.06.90 in the longer event was also a club record in both the 15/16 years and open age groups.
She also finished fourth in the 200m backstroke once again claiming both club records.
A further club record fell to Rebecca Dunn (Guiseley) swimming in the 17 years and over 200m breaststroke. Her time of 2.41.44 was a new club record in the 17/18 years age group. She then went on to finish in seventh place in the shorter 50m event.
Fraser Buxton’s time of 25.07 in the 17 years and over 50m freestyle placed him in silver medal place and Laura Temple also claimed five other top ten finishes.
Ciara O’Carroll finished in bronze medal position in the 13 years 50m breaststroke in a time of 39.29 and also claimed four further top ten finishes.
Top ten finishes also went to Sophia Gledhill (4), Eliza Naglik (3), Quinn Austin Kelly (2), Luke Winterbottom (1), Alex Dunn, Guiseley (1) and Evelyn Gledhill (1).
All of the above swimmers train with Leisure Services Aquatic Competition Programme under the guidance of coaches Andy Pearce and Sarah Fisher.
