FOLLOWING their 3-1 win over Bury at Nethermoor on Saturday, Guiseley faced a sterner test in their second pre-season friendly against visitors Barnsley on Tuesday night.
Against Bury on a boiling hot afternoon the home support had a chance to familiarise themselves with a raft of new signings. Returning striker Jake Cassidy netted twice after an opener by Trialist A, a figure familiar to the home crowd.
On Tuesday night Guiseley got off to the best possible start as Trialist B in the number seven shirt picked the pocket of a Barnsley defender in the tenth minute and drew the 'keeper before slotting the ball into the bottom corner.
Both sides created a number of opportunities but it was not until the second-half that the visitors started to show the benefits of being a full-time outfit. They forced an equaliser on 63 minutes, with Jorge Sikora diverting the ball into his own net.
Kyle Trennery, who replaced Barrow loanee Scott Moloney for the second-half, made two good stops to deny Barnsley but he was eventually beaten on 78 minutes when Fabio Jalo wrapped it up for the visitors with a crisp finish from close in. The Tykes were knocking on the door having hit the bar twice in the second-half.
