MENSTON Crompark are up and running in the Mewies Solicitors Craven League.
The newcomers from the defunct Leeds & Wetherby League won a tight match at Skipton CI in the Wynn Cup.
Sent in in what was the first of four mini-league contests spread between April and June, Crompark made 116, the recovery from 22-4 coming from Matt Poucher (22) and Andrew Morgan (23), who added 32 for the sixth wicket.
Crompark used six bowlers after tea, but only Tom Holder (5-21) and Poucher (5-19) took wickets at CI fell just short on 108.
There was no such joy for Crompark II, however, in the John Clayton Cup – the league’s new 40-over competition for lower teams.
They sent in visitors Sutton II, who made a healthy 174-6 and, despite an opening stand of 50 between Tim Yeardley (18) and Mark Cooper (26), Crompark were dismissed for 137, Matthew Bradley (20) and skipper Keith Texel (15) also reaching double figures.
