MENSTON Crompark came up short twice in their matches against fellow newcomers Bowling Baptist in the Mewies Solicitors Craven League.
Their first XIs met at High Royds in the Wynn Cup, the league’s blue-riband knockout competition, which is being played in initial mini-leagues.
Baptist, sent in, made 170, recovering from 49-5 after good work by Rob Binley (3-21), Will Lowans (3-30) helping to polish off the tail alongside Will Morgan (2-31).
Satnam Thiara (25) and Charles Pullan (85 off 66 deliveries, including 11 fours and a six) set Crompark off on the right course but they subsided from 125-4 and were dismissed for 160.
The second XI clash in the John Clayton Cup at Scotchman Road was more decisive, with Baptist making 167, despite Tom Holder (4-35) and Owen Pothecary (2-6).
Crompark’s batting then never fired and they were dismissed for 82, with their top scorer, Holder, making 15.
