MENSTON Crompark’s first XI gave promotion-chasing Cononley a decent match in Mewies Solicitors Craven League Division Three, even if they did end up on the losing side.
Hosts Cononley sent the visitors in and skittled them for 63 in 23.4 overs, with only No 8 Will Morgan (10) making double figures.
However, Cononley were 44-6 in reply before Colin Stead (24no) and Tom Feather (9no) featured in an unbroken partnership of 21 to secure a four-wicket win.
Rob Binley (5-3-6-2) had caused most of the early jitters.
Ingrow II chose to bat at High Royds in Division Four and made an impressive 233, despite Ali Asghar taking 3-38 and Dan Woodthorpe 3-74.
Third-from-bottom Crompark II were then dismissed for 61, despite three of their top four reaching double figures – Iain Jennings (20), Tom Brooksbank (19) and skipper Jim Moor (16).
*The Craven League’s annual dinner has been moved from Friday, October 13 to Friday, October 20 owing to the unavailability of Bradford & Bingley Sports Club on the initial date.
