MENSTON Crompark scored one of the upsets of the season in Division Three of the Mewies Solicitors Craven League.
They handed leaders and fellow newcomers Bowling Baptist their first league defeat of the campaign, winning by three wickets at High Royds.
Sent in, Bowling were dismissed for 76, despite 37 from opener Mohammed Zahid as third and fourth change bowlers Isaac Rashid (7-3-6-3) and Will Lowans (6-2-8-3) cashed in.
Crompark didn’t find things easy either and were 24-3 before Haroon Rashid (19) and Sam Rhodes (13no) helped to get them over the line by the end of the 36th over.
The second XIs were in opposition also in Division Four at Scotchman Road, but Bowling won convincingly by 68 runs, still dropping a place to third as Silsden II earned one more bonus point from their win over Glusburn II.
Baptist won the toss and batted, making 138, with the wickets being shared between all six bowlers.
Only opener and skipper Jim Moor (14) and No 9 Marcus Woodthorpe (33) then made double figures in the reply of 70, with Woodthorpe and Owen Pothecary (2no) putting on 34 for the last wicket.
