ALISON Kinloch is a national cyclo-cross champion.
The Burley-in-Wharfedale woman won the women’s over-50s race at the British National Cyclo-Cross Championships in Scotland last weekend.
Riding for Shibden Cycling Club, Kinloch, who has peaked perfectly for the big one after an injury-disrupted season, needed a sprint finish, however, to finish on top of the podium at Callender Park, Falkirk.
She had worked with Reifen Racing’s Lucy Siddle to establish a gap over bronze medallist Helen Pattinson (Montezuma’s Race Team), but then outpaced Siddle to take gold.
Ilkley’s Freya Whiteside (Shibden Cycling Club) was 32nd in the women’s elite race, while Rawdon’s Paul Nutton (Shibden Cycling Club) was 28th in the men’s over-50s race, Ilkley’s Stefan Macina (Shibden Cycling Clb) coming 35th and Freya’s dad Andrew, also of Shibden, 37th.
