MENSTON Fourths started their campaign in the Timothy Taylor’s Craven League John Clayton Cup with a convincing victory.
Sent in by hosts Haworth II, Menston made a creditable 150, led by opener David Holder (38) and backed up by No 9 Qasim Hussain (29no) on an afternoon where six Menston players reached double figures.
Only Paul Stephens (15) did so in the reply, however, as Haworth were castled for just 37 inside 18 overs, with Rob Binley taking 4-11 and Alistair Adams 3-5.
Menston Fifths should have had a home double header against Long Lee II and Keighley III in the Cowling Cup T20 competition, but the pitch was not fit.
