GUISELEY have announced that two of their key defenders have signed new deals with the club.

Jameel Ible and Ollie Brown are the players in question and they will remain at Nethermoor for the 2024/25 campaign.

As one season closes Guiseley defender Ible is eagerly awaiting the next and looking forward to a new challenge under a new manager as well as building on his international career in the summer break.

St Kitts and Nevis international Ible will hopefully be included in the St Kitts squad for more World Cup qualifiers in June.

However, his main ambition lies a little further ahead with an upcoming season in the Pitching In Premier Division under returning boss Mark Bower.

Speaking to Rachel O’Connor at Guiseley, the popular defender said after signing a new contract: “Bows did really well in his previous spell here as manager. You can tell by the reaction of our fans that they are excited by his appointment.”

Ible added: “I know we were disappointed last time out; we really should have made the play-offs but I don’t feel that we need a massive overhaul. Those who are staying just need to up their levels and be more consistent.”

Ible’s expectations for the new season are to be pushing at least for the play-offs and he feels that under Bower and his assistant Danny Boshell that can be achieved.

“The play-offs are the minimum we should be aiming for, it was our aim last season but there was too much chopping and changing and that did not really help, it was hard to adjust all the time and hard for the loan players who came in” said Ible.

Asked what the good points of last season were Ible said: “Well obviously the two wins over Radcliffe really showed what we were capable of and we had a good spell in the middle of the season. Away from home our form was good but not so good at home, so we need to improve on our home form.”

Ible is also hoping that some more of the club’s exciting Academy talent may push on and play at senior level. He said: “If the Academy lads are good enough, we need to give them a chance. Former Academy player Ollie Brown had a great season with us and in training we have seen the quality and promise of the likes of Academy players Foley N’kem, Miguel Valsau, Hagie Damba and the lads like Jack Mason, K’Marni Miller and Kyle Burrows who figured in the Academy’s title winning side.”

Ible has a keen interest in the progress of young players with his full-time job running his own sports coaching business working in schools and running his own football academy. He said: “I enjoy working with young people, keeping them in sports and keeping them active.”

Ible has his fingers crossed that he will get further opportunities with St Kitts and Nevis in their upcoming World Cup qualifiers starting with a game against Costa Rica on 6th June.

He said: “The games are coming up in June and I hope to get the call.

"It is a long time since I made my international debut, then there was a break of six years so I was a bit surprised when I was called up again, but I have enjoyed it.”

Ible went on to make 41 appearances, all starts, during the 2023/24 season scoring six goals along the way

In other news, Guiseley have announced that Ollie Brown has signed a new contract with the club for the 2024/25 season.

Academy graduate Ollie Brown has become a crowd favourite at Nethermoor after taking a convoluted route to Guiseley first team success.
