MENSTON Fourths were just one of the teams to suffer a batting collapse in the Timothy Taylor’s Craven League at the weekend.
They were 95-5 chasing 123 for victory in their Division Three clash at home to Bradford & Bingley Thirds, but lost their last five wickets for just four runs.
Bingley batted first and made 122, despite Rob Binley (12-5-14-4) and 17-year-old Will Morgan (8.4-2-17-4) returning outstanding figures as they capitulated from 107-4.
Menston’s defeat was also tough luck on 15-year-old Ollie Holder, who hit five fours in his 53, and fellow teenager Elliot Harrison (22), with their team dropping one place to eighth.
There was a predictable end for Menston’s fifth team in Division Four, with the bottom team losing by 100 runs at leaders Skipton CI II.
Experienced duo Ali Asghar (3-48) and Stuart Jones (2-32) did best with the ball for Menston in Skipton’s 181-7, but then Rory Southern’s 34 was the main note of defiance when the visitors batted and were dismissed for 81.
