FRIDAY June 7 saw the inaugural Chevin Scratch Trophy at Otley Golf Club, with a field of over 40 elite amateur golfers taking part in the event.
Conditions were cool and breezy making for challenging scoring; over half of the participants being 1 handicap or below.
The course was in amazing condition, as noted by winner, Richard Wheatley (+3),
He said: “The course, for the weather we’ve had, was in great condition, so I hope your members appreciate the hard the work the green staff have put in for getting it into that condition.
“I hadn’t played Otley in years, but loved the course and how it was set up. It was a fair test even in the 40mph wind we had.
“I would also like to say a big thank you to the sponsors of the competition, Balmers, for their kind gesture in sponsoring the competition.”
Mark Moore, General Manager at Otley Golf Club, said: “Otley Golf Club is a fantastic place to play golf and relax afterwards.
“We have amazing practice facilities and felt that we could host a great event. It was wonderful to see everything come together on the day and the staff and volunteers were incredible – my thanks to them all.
“Richard Wheatley, and all the other prize winners, played some great golf and the scores show how challenging the course can be.
“My thanks also go out to Balmers GM, our sponsor for the event. Their support is much appreciated, and we look forward to working with them in the future..”
