MENSTON IV have climbed two places to fourth in Division Three of the Timothy Taylor’s Craven League after a solid victory at Sutton II.
Asked to bat, Menston were given a fine start by Satnam Thiara (24) and Paul Smith (41), who put on 70, and Ollie Holder and Will Lowans, who both scored 36, then added 60 for the fourth wicket.
But there was a collapse from 156-3 to 189-9, though that total was still enough as the home side were rolled over for 130 from a high point of 86-2 as Alistair Adams took 3-28 ad Lowans 2-11.
In Division Four’s match at High Royds, things were much more tense as Denholme II made 133-9 after being sent in, with Isaac Rashid taking 4-30.
Menston then had six players reach double figures, headed by Rory Southern and Haroon Rashid, who both scored 20, but still needed a last-wicket partnership of four to get over the line in the 38th over, climbing one place to ninth as a result.
