FOURTH-placed Menston IV made the trip to third-placed Cowling II for a high-profile clash in Division Three of the Timothy Taylor’s Craven League.
Menston won the toss and chose to bat, with keeper Paul Smith (38) and 15-year-old Ollie Holder (18) putting on 45 for the third wicket.
A stand of 46 for the fifth wicket followed between in-form 13-year-old Sam Dowsland (31) and captain David Holder (29) as Menston reached 129-4.
However, a collapse followed and they were dismissed for 147.
Hopes were raised after tea when both Cowling openers were out for ducks, but from 35-4 the hosts had an unbroken partnership of 113 to win by six wickets, also off 43.1 overs.
In Division Four, eighth-placed Menston V entertained fourth-placed Glusburn II, who chose to bat and scored 173-8, which was some recovery from 19-4.
Henry Dodgson, 13, took 4-26 and newcomer George Gascoyne, 14, 2-26.
Menston started their reply well, being 45-2, with opener Tim Yeardley scoring 21 and Dodgson 20, but only Jim Moor (15) troubled the scorers after that as a shutter of wickets meant that they were soon 50-8 and they were then dismissed for 73 in the 27th over.
