THE Wharfedale Twenty/20 competition has reached the semi-final stages. Otley top Group Three after winning all three of their games. They completed a hat-trick of wins with a 13 run triumph over Rawdon.
Otley made 143-7 with Alex Bailey making 50 and Sam Smith 40. Rawdon replied with 130-8. They also defeated Pool making 145 and Pool falling for just 85 in reply.
For Otley young Josh Atkinson made 40 and their bowling stars were Anthony Giles and John Brough with three wickets apiece.
Burley also kept up their 100 per cent record in Group A defeating Green Lane and Ben Rhydding to set up a home semi-final.
Aussie Jason Wright made 60 as Burley amassed 170-7 against Green Lane, who could only manage 121 in reply. Marcus McLeod took 3-6 for Burley.
Against Ben Rhydding Burley made a huge 205-5 with Jason Wright hitting 58, Neil Davies 57 and guest player James Davies 45no.
McLeod took 3-12 as Ben Rhydding collapsed to 82 all out.
In Ilkley had an easy win over Ben Rhydding before taking on Green Lane and now face a trip to Otley in the semi-finals.
Lane made 154-6 with Michael Abbott hitting 35, Jamie Pickering 35 and Andy Pickup 34no. Only Kiwi Jake Bezzant with 41, impressed with the bat for Ilkley as they fell for 129.
A very high scoring game took place at Rawdon as the home side entertained Olicanians, who batted first and made an excellent 200. Opener Dave Britton made a superb 115no but Rawdon were undaunted and hammered the Oli’s bowlers to all parts of the ground getting home in 16.3 overs. Brothers Stewart (54) and James Smith (75) were the main run scorers.
Tonight, Thursday, Pool or Rawdon host Burley in the semi-finals with Otley hosting Green Lane. The final will be at Burley-in-Wharfedale CC on Thursday, July 9. Matches start at 6.30pm.
