LIAM Needham is revealed as the midfielder Guiseley manager Steve Kittrick is seeking as he bids to strengthen his midfield following the departure of Chris Bolder.

Bolder has decided the travelling for twice weekly training sessions and games is too much for him.

Kittrick has been casting around for a replacement and is bidding to tie up ther ends of a tranfer for Needham from Gainsborough Trinity.

One man Guiseley have hooked is former Huddersfield Town midfielder Chris Holland, who had over 600 games in the Football League.

Holland also saw service with Southport, Fleetwood and Burscough and will be a travelling companion for his former Fleetwood teammate Jerome Fitzgerald.

Nethermoor is undergoing a transformation ahead of the new season. Building work is ongoing to replace the main stand which was damaged in a suspected arson attack last summer. New floodlights have also been installed and new fencing is to be erected. Money has also been spent on improving the playing surface.

Everything should be ready for the Carlisle United game on Wednesday, July 29.

Guiseley however have suffered a blow by being told by Leeds United that they will not now be coming to Nethermoor for a pre-season friendly and director Steve Parkin has pulled out all the stops to replace them with Steve Bruce's Sunderland side. This game will take place on Monday, August 3.

Guiseley’s players are all back in training, the first team having started this week and the Reserves already having out in two weeks.

Kittrick is still formulating his squad and said: “We are still talking to one or two potential signings. Quite a few players have contacted us and expressed an interest in coming to us which has been very encouraging. They want to play for Guiseley.

“That is how it should be in non-league, people wanting to represent a club because of the way it’s run and the potential that’s there.

Pre-Season friendlies start on Thursday, July 16, at Pontefract Collieries followed by a trip to Goole on Saturday, July 18.
