IN the Airedale and Wharfedale League Rawdon increased their lead at the top of Division One despite Silsden hanging on for a point.
Jamie Pickering made a magnificent 139 and he shared an opening stand of 118 with young Niall Colman, who made 27.
Pickering then had a second century stand, putting on 124 with David Morgan, who made a fine century, before Rawdon declared at 318-4.
Despite a 14-over spell of 6-33 from Andrew Doidge, Silsden still had two wickets to spare at the close as they finished on 184-8.
However, Green Lane did Rawdon a favour and kept their own title hopes alive by taking four points off second-placed North Leeds.
Lane made 182-9 with opener Masood Ahmed hitting 59 and Yasar Ali 36. For North Leeds Tim Hudson took 4-27 and A Karim 4-43.
North Leeds made a poor start and were 44-5 as Ishy Hussain bagged 5-44 and Neil Britton chipped in with a wicket.
North Leeds finished on 163-8 thanks to knocks of 32 from M Kellaway and Steve Wales.
Despite a season’s-best 8-54 from Aussie paceman Jason Wright, Burley went down by a single wicket at Beckwithshaw, who joined them on 41 points – eight behind Rawdon – in joint-third place.
Skipper David Pennett hit a half-century but Guiseley had to settle for a point at Collingham, while Dale Tormey (88no) and Matthew O’Grady (35no) saw Otley to a third win in a row as they passed Calverley’s 177 for six with seven wickets in hand. Imran Mirza hit 81 for Calverley.
A sensational bowling display by Mahir Ali helped Thackley beat Harden by the skin of their teeth and hang on to top spot in Division Two.
Ali took nine for 84 – all caught, including six in the slip – as Harden were dismissed for 141 chasing Thackley’s 145. That takes his tally to 52 wickets in the last eight games.
Illingworth remain just two points behind Thackley but the pair opened up a gap on third-placed Pool, who crashed to defeat against Tong Park-Esholt. Nadeem Hanif (5-53) restricted the home side to 151 for nine and Gary Wilkinson (49no) steered Park to victory.
Steeton also did the top two a favour, taking four points off highly-fancied Follifoot mainly thanks to a record breaking stand of 194 for the sixth wicket between John Akrigg (106) and Jonathan Best (86no).
The previous best was 142 set in 1963 by Ilkley’s Alan Pinder (99no) and Brian Featherstone (57) against Bilton and then equalled in 1986 by J Dodman (78) and P Dean (70no) for Beckwithshaw against Illingworth.
Akrigg and Best helped their side recover from 30-5 to a fine 238-7.
Olicanians and Bolton Villas took two giant strides towards their hopes of promotion from Division Three and have opened up a useful gap to the chasing pack at the halfway stage.
Steve McCabe’s third century of the season set the platform for Olicanians to inflict a first defeat on Ben Rhydding since early May.
The Aussie cracked nine fours and five sixes in his unbeaten 102 as Olicanians set a target of 191-9.
They were restricted some-what by the bowling of Charlie Swallow (4-38) and Nick Smith, whose three wickets included his 40th of the season. But apart from Mark Booth (41), Rhydding’s batting struggled against Bernard Hughes (5-41) and Will Pearson (3-20) and they were dismissed for 101.
That kept Olicanians a point ahead of Villas, who ended the impressive recent run of third-placed Ilkley in decisive style.
Chris Spivey’s second six-wicket haul in as many weeks restricted the visitors to 129 and Lee Hawksworth (42no) led the chase as Villas got home by six wickets with 12 overs to spare.
Despite a seven-wicket spell from Charlie Dracup, Horsforth still set a formidable target of 253 but Menston clinched victory by two wickets with two balls to go, led by an unbeaten 149 from Andrew Morgan.
Hall Park’s miserable run continued as they crashed to a fourth successive defeat, bowled out for 172 in reply to New Rover’s 232-8.
