Farsley followed up their thrilling Sovereign Health Care Priestley Cup win over Pudsey Congs by judging their run chase perfectly to beat Yeadon by four wickets.

Shabbir Rashid set the tempo for the innings with 63 and the impetus was carried on by Yorkshire’s James Lee (54) - his third half-century in the past month - skipper David Syers (37no) and Lorenzo Inghram (37) It meant that Yeadon’s Dan Shuffe ended up a loser despite stroking a superb 102 as his side made 225-6.

Shuffe’s innings contained three sixes and 12 fours and confirmed once again what a valuable addition he has been for his side.

Kiwi Tom Johnston struck an unbeaten 33 while former Yeadon seamer Chris Henry was the best Farsley bowler with 3-54.

David Clow hit an unbeaten 51 to steer leaders Bradford & Bingley to a valuable three-wicket win over Woodlands.

Clow’s determined batting enabled Bradford & Bingley to recover from 67-5 to pass Woodlands’ score of 181 all out with two overs to spare.

The left-hander hit a six and five fours as he revived his side with crucial assistance from former Otley skipper James Davies and Yorkshire and England star Matthew Hoggard.

Davies (26) shared in a sixth-wicket stand of 60 and Hoggard (26no) joined Clow in an unbroken stand of 53 for the eighth wicket.

Safraz Ahmed was the pick of the Woodlands bowlers with three for 39 but even he couldn’t save his side from a seventh defeat.

Once again the champions batted disappointingly. Only Scott Richardson with an unbeaten 51 made a telling contribution as Davies (4-38), Will Briggs (3-41), and Matthew Cockshott (3-35) did the damage.

Hoggard finished wicketless and Richard McCarthy didn’t even bowl, underlying the strength in depth of the Bradford & Bingley bowling.

Bradford & Bingley now have a 14-point lead over Baildon who took advantage of East Bierley not having a game to move into second place. Baildon inflicted more misery on bottom club Hanging Heaton as they defeated them by nine wickets.

In Division Two, Yorkshire batsman Chris Taylor hit 124 as Undercliffe inflicted a 12th successive defeat on basement team Great Horton.

Former Benton Park School pupil Taylor struck four sixes and ten fours as his side made 243-5 before bowling out Great Horton for 124 with Harry Painter taking three for 29 and Sam Brooks (3-19) Undercliffe picked up 20 points and that enabled them to reduce Bankfoot’s lead to 25 points. Fast-improving Farsley seconds climbed into third place after inflicting a six-wicket defeat on title hopefuls Yeadon.

The result drops Yeadon from second to fourth and they paid a heavy price for a dismal batting performance as they were skittled out for 112 by Christian Horner (5-18) and Jimmy Higgins (3-29).

Farsley eased to their victory target with little trouble.
