Otley Town 3, Kippax 0
Otley Town secured a vital victory on Saturday with this comprehensive win over fellow West Yorkshire Association League Premier Division strugglers Kippax.
In truth, the outcome never looked in doubt from the first minute as Town were quicker, sharper and hungrier than the visitors.
However, several good opportunities to open the scoring came and went before Dan Chadwick demonstrated the way to do it, taking a touch to set himself and then placing the ball with unerring accuracy into the corner of the goal.
Town continued to dominate, and it was no surprise when Josh Waite added a second.
The Kippax back-line was once again caught hopelessly square, and the Town man had an easy task to beat the stranded goal-keeper.
At 2-0 up at half-time, it seemed the only thing that Otley needed to worry about was complacency.
But these fears were soon put to bed though at the start of the second half, when a fine move involving James Davey and Waite culminated in Declan Adams slotting the ball home from close range.
By now it was a case of ‘job done’, and the remainder of the game was played out with Town largely untroubled, and they might easily have scored more.
In a very good team effort, outstanding for Town were Waite and Michael Sproats but special mention should also go to the referee, who impressed all with his handling of the game.
With one match remaining, Town’s fate is in their own hands.
Beat Brighouse in the final game of the season at home on Saturday, May 10 (2.30pm), and Premier League status next season is assured.
Anything less, and Town will be reliant on the results of other teams.
